What is lime paint?
Limewash paint is a decorative, breathable paint based on slaked lime. This natural mineral paint is cherished for its matte appearance, vibrant color nuances, and subtle color variations. Limewash paint has been used for centuries in traditional homes, but is also gaining popularity in modern interiors. Thanks to its breathable structure, it is suitable for older walls, damp areas such as bathrooms, and even exterior facades – provided the correct preparation.
Why choose lime paint?
Whether you're looking for a unique aesthetic for your living space, a calming effect for your bedroom, or a natural solution for moisture regulation: lime paint is a smart choice. Moreover, it is environmentally friendly and user-friendly. With the right primer and techniques, you can easily apply lime paint yourself with a block brush.
Breathable and moisture-regulating
Limewash allows walls to breathe and helps prevent mold formation – ideal in damp rooms such as bathrooms.
Ecological
Made from natural raw materials, without synthetic additives or VOCs. A conscious choice for any interior.
Lively texture
Your brush technique determines the final result. No two walls are the same – that's what makes limewash unique.
Tips & tricks
Indoor and outdoor applications
Lime paint is extremely versatile. You can use it in any room of your house, from the kitchen to the bathroom. In damp areas, it is best to finish with a breathable sealer such as Wall Sealer. Lime paint can also be used on exterior walls, but with an adapted primer and finish. Please note: lime paint is not washable like lacquer paint, but it is paintable and easy to maintain.
Which colors are possible?
At Paintfactory, you choose from a balanced colour palette that seamlessly fits into understated, timeless, and characterful interiors. Think of powdery grey tones, warm earth colours, and soft white nuances. Each colour gains extra depth due to the way light falls on the limewash paint.
