Lime paint in the bedroom

Lime paint is one of the oldest types of paint in the world, known for its natural composition and authentic look. It is made from eco-friendly materials.
It feels exceptionally soft and natural, creating an authentic romantic tranquility. This makes it ideal for painting your bedroom!

Moreover, lime paint has some unique advantages as a paint in the bedroom:

  • Breathability: Lime paint has excellent vapor-permeable properties, allowing moisture to escape and reducing the risk of mold and damp problems.
  • Durable & ecological: Lime paint is very environmentally friendly and contains no (micro)plastics, solvents, preservatives, or other environmentally harmful substances. It is low-odor, free from harmful substances, and suitable for people with allergies.
  • Recommended for repainting: Tired of the paint or color in your bedroom?
Lime paint can be effectively used on previously painted surfaces, provided the substrate is suitable and well-prepared.

Painting your bedroom with lime paint?

Lime paint is a matte, natural paint type with mineral pigments.
When applying the paint, various techniques can be used, each yielding a different color shade or nuance.
This creates a very authentic effect, giving your bedroom a unique and atmospheric look.
Lime paint can also be used for furniture and decoration.

Would you like to know more about the different lime techniques? You can find information on this blog. You can choose between a cloudy technique, a painted concrete look, or a spatula technique.

  • Cloudy effect: This effect adds depth and movement to your walls through soft transitions and subtle color variations. It creates a dynamic, airy look that fits perfectly in both modern and rustic interiors.

How to apply lime paint in the bedroom?

In the video below, Jennifer and Nils show you step-by-step how to use lime paint to create a beautiful cloudy effect. Below the video, we provide some extra tips!

Wall preparation: Ensure the surface is clean, dry, and dust-free. Old paint or wallpaper layers must be removed.

Apply primer: Apply a suitable primer to ensure even absorption of the lime paint and to improve adhesion. In most cases, we recommend our Primer for walls.

First coat of lime paint: Apply the lime paint with a wide brush or whitewash brush in crisscross motions to create the characteristic color nuances. Let this coat dry thoroughly. LIME PAINT is diluted by up to a maximum of 10% for the first coat. The second coat is diluted from 10% to a maximum of 30%, depending on the desired effect. The more dilution, the more texture you can create. Rollers cannot be used. Rollers will cause streaking.

Second coat of lime paint: Repeat the process for the second coat for a deeper color and more texture. Depending on the desired effect, a third coat can be applied.

Finishing: For extra protection, Wall sealer can be applied, which also gives the wall a subtle sheen.
