Skipr Hotel: a warm base in Antwerp

Skipr Hotel: een warme uitvalsbasis in Antwerpen

Skipr Hotel: a warm home base in Antwerp

A hotel where you can discover the city while simultaneously unwinding. That is the idea behind Skipr Hotel in Antwerp. Located on the Sint-Pietersvliet, the hotel features an interior where warm beige tones, bold reds, and decorative textures complement each other.

Paint and colors from Paintfactory were used throughout the entire hotel. Our Antwerp store oversaw the project. From the rooms to the lobby and the stairwell, every space has been given its own atmosphere, with a warm color palette serving as the common thread.

A family hotel with its own character

Skipr Hotel is an independent hotel owned by the Van Weert family. Deborah Van Weert, a third-generation hotelier, continues the family tradition here. With 53 rooms near the Scheldt, Skipr aims to be a comfortable base for those coming to discover Antwerp.

The hotel brings together design, accessibility, and personal hospitality. Guests can rest, but also receive local tips on how to experience the city. This combination of calm and vibrancy is reflected in the interior: tranquil rooms are alternated with spaces where color takes more of a center stage.

From construction site to a cohesive interior

The hotel is taking shape step by step. Some areas are still awaiting their final furnishings, while elsewhere the woodwork, curtains, and lighting are already in place.

It is precisely in these different stages that you can see how much color and finish add to a space. A painted wall immediately brings more cohesion between the architecture and the materials. Once the ceiling is included as well, a room feels even more like a unified whole.

At Skipr, this approach was maintained throughout the entire project. The colors vary per room, but align with the same warm atmosphere.

Hotel rooms in Structuurverf Terra Sisalbeige

In the bathrooms, both the walls and ceilings were painted with Structuurverf Terra in the colour Sisalbeige. By using the same colour above and around you, the transitions between surfaces are less noticeable. This gives the rooms a calm, enveloping appearance.

The texture of Structuurverf Terra adds depth to the beige tone. Depending on the light, the finish becomes more or less visible. This gives the walls character, while the colour keeps the room feeling soft.

The finish blends seamlessly with the existing woodwork and curtains. The different materials each bring their own texture to a tranquil whole. A fine foundation for a hotel room where you want to relax after a day in the city.

Humusbeige brings warmth to the bathrooms

For the bathrooms, the choice was Tintology Authentic Wall Silk in the colour Humusbeige. This extends the warm colour direction of the rooms into the bathroom, without repeating the exact same shade everywhere.

This makes the transition between the two rooms pleasant. The bathroom feels like an extension of the bedroom, with its own color that complements the rest of the interior.

Here too, the combination with the furnishings plays an important role. Next to the vanity unit and the mirror lighting, the wall color gains further significance. It is the interplay of color, material, and light that determines the atmosphere.

A warm welcome in Caramelbeige

The lobby features Structuurverf Terra and Tintology Authentic Wall Silk in the colour Caramelbeige. One colour unites two different finishes here.

This is a beautiful way to add variety without introducing extra colours. The colour holds the space together, while the finishes each give the surface a different character.

Caramelbeige aligns with the warm foundation of the hotel and gives the reception area an inviting look. The lobby thus sets the tone for the rest of the stay: an interior where colour is present while providing cohesion.

Red and orange give the transitional spaces character

Where the rooms radiate calm, the hallway, stairwell, and restrooms are given more colour. This variety makes the interior vibrant.

In the hallway, Tintology Authentic Wall Silk in the colour Toscaans Rood was used. The colour gives even a space you primarily walk through a clear, distinct character. A passageway thus becomes a full-fledged part of the interior.

The stairwell features the colour Riad Oranje. This warm orange shade complements the reds and adds another accent between the floors.

In the restrooms, Tintology Authentic Wall Silk in Havanarood and Structuurverf Terra in Toscaans Rood were combined. The result is a bold colour combination that fits within the hotel's warm direction.

Skipr thus demonstrates that a cohesive interior does not require the same color everywhere. By using related shades, you can give every room its own unique character.

Managed by Paintfactory Antwerp

The entire hotel was painted with our paints and colours, overseen by Paintfactory Antwerp.

In a project with so many different spaces, colour and finish come together time and again. The rooms require a different atmosphere than the lobby or the stairwell, yet the whole must remain recognizable.

At Skipr, you can see how that can work: Sisalbeige forms the calm base in the rooms, Humusbeige follows in the bathrooms, and Caramelbeige brings warmth to the lobby. Toscaans Rood, Havanarood, and Riad Oranje give the other spaces a stronger accent.

Want to get started with colour and texture at home?

You can also translate Skipr's approach to your own home. Use a calm shade in rooms where you want to relax and give a hallway, restroom, or other defined area a bit more colour. By choosing related shades and recurring materials, the whole remains cohesive.
