From white to warm: Stéphanie’s colourful makeover

Stéphanie lives in Melle with her family of three. Their home was built in 2013 and they purchased it in 2018. After about seven years, it was time for a fresh coat of paint. The walls were in need of a refresh, and they wanted an interior that better reflected their own personal taste.

The house featured a lot of white. Stéphanie wanted more colour but wasn't quite sure which shades to choose. She loves the coziness of Mediterranean homes: warm colours, a relaxed atmosphere, and rooms that instantly feel like home.

Through Instagram, she discovered Paintfactory's in-home colour consultation service. That became the starting point for a makeover that brought warmth and personality throughout the home.

Inspiration for a Mediterranean interior

Stéphanie already had a clear feeling about what she wanted to change. She wanted the home to be cozier, with colours that bring the warmth of a Mediterranean interior inside.

However, going from a vibe you like to concrete paint colours isn't always easy. Especially when you are used to white walls. Which shade do you use as a base? Where can you be a bit more expressive? And how do you ensure the different rooms complement each other?

When someone on Instagram recommended Paintfactory's colour advice, she was intrigued. The positive feedback regarding value for money was also a factor. Budget was important, especially since she wanted to tackle several rooms.

In-home colour consultation with Paintfactory

During the colour consultation, Stéphanie discussed her wishes with the colour consultant. Together, they looked at which colours fit the atmosphere she had in mind.

For Stéphanie, it was especially important that she felt truly heard. She wanted to recognize her own taste in the result. The consultant helped her translate those preferences into a color plan for the home.

Bloesemwit formed the light base, complemented by Roombeige and Atlasbeige. Miso Oranje, Zonnesteenrood, and Riad Oranje added warm, Mediterranean tones to the whole. Noors Blauw was added for the children's room.

This gave each room its own identity, with colours that also connect with one another. That gave Stéphanie the confidence to take the step toward colour.

With the colour plan in hand, Stéphanie went to pick up her paint at Paintfactory Ghent. There, she was warmly welcomed and well-assisted by the staff. She appreciated this personal approach: even after the colour advice, she felt well-supported.

From discussing the initial ideas to picking up the paint, Stéphanie had a positive experience throughout the entire process. The colours were chosen, the paint was ready, and the painting could begin.

From white walls to warm colours

A warm welcome with Bloesemwit and Miso Oranje

In the entryway, Bloesemwit forms the base for the walls, ceiling, and doors. The wall toward the living room gets Miso Oranje as a warm accent. This way, the Mediterranean colour palette begins right upon entering, and the hallway matches the atmosphere of the living space.

For the walls and ceiling, Muur Mat was used, and Hydro Satin enamel for the doors.

A cozy seating area in Roombeige and Atlasbeige

In the seating area, two beige tones in Muur Mat are combined. Roombeige is used on the wall toward the entryway. Atlasbeige is placed behind the television and on the adjoining piece of wall in the corner. Bloesemwit remains the general light base.

The combination brings more colour into the living room without any single surface demanding too much attention. For Stéphanie, this is the coziest spot in the house after the painting work. Especially in the evening, when a candle is lit, she enjoys the warm glow on the walls.

Zonnesteenrood as an accent in the kitchen

In the kitchen, Zonnesteenrood in Muur Mat forms the colour accent next to the back door. The shade matches the terracotta colors Stéphanie loves so much and brings the desired Mediterranean atmosphere to the space.

Bloesemwit keeps the base light. This allows the accent wall to stand out while keeping the kitchen connected to the rest of the living space.

An aperitif corner in Riad Oranje

For the aperitif corner, Riad Oranje in Muur Mat was chosen. The colour block begins from the wall near the Zonnesteenrood accent and continues across the walls of the corner. The advice also suggested potentially painting the ceiling as well.

Riad Oranje and Zonnesteenrood complement each other and give this part of the living space its own atmosphere. Precisely the warmth Stéphanie wanted to see back in her home.

A powder room with character in Miso Oranje

In the downstairs toilet, Miso Oranje in Muur Mat is extended across all walls and the ceiling. By using one colour all around, the small space gets a cohesive, distinctive look.

The result did not go unnoticed by guests, either. Stéphanie’s friends reacted enthusiastically to the colour and found the powder room to be a particularly successful space.

A cool kid's room in Noors Blauw and Roombeige

For her son's room, Noors Blauw was chosen for the corner by the bed. The blue colour block runs from the wall to the right of the door to the former 'Mickey wall'. The remaining walls feature Roombeige, with Bloesemwit as a supplementary base in the colour plan.

The combination gives the children's room its own character. Stéphanie finds it one of the most successful rooms. When she tucks her son into bed at night, they both enjoy how cool and cozy his room has become.

Mediterranean colours in the bathroom

In the bathroom, Zonnesteenrood and Riad Oranje come together as well. Zonnesteenrood was applied to the wall behind the washbasins. The two walls next to the tub and shower feature Riad Oranje.

For these walls, Muur Badkamer & Keuken paint was used. The colours match the kitchen and the aperitif corner, ensuring the Mediterranean atmosphere continues upstairs as well.

A new atmosphere at home for €900.33 worth of paint

When repainting several rooms, budget also plays a role. For Stéphanie, value for money was therefore an important point of focus. She wanted to freshen up her home and give it more warmth, using paint and colours that suited her wishes.

For the project, a total of 76.5 litres of paint was purchased for a wall surface area of 260.87 m² to be painted. The total amount spent at Paintfactory came to €900.33. This laid the foundation for a makeover that can be felt throughout the house, from the living room to the nursery.

This amount is separate from the execution by the painter. Stéphanie had the painting works and the necessary wall repairs carried out professionally.

Having the painting work carried out

Stéphanie chose to outsource the painting. There were also various repairs needed on the walls, which led her to hire a painter for this.

With the detailed colour advice, the choices were clear in advance. The desired atmosphere had been discussed, and it was established per room which colours and finishes would be used.

For her purchases and further assistance, Stéphanie was able to turn to Paintfactory Ghent. She felt well helped there and found the staff friendly every time. That guidance made it more pleasant for her to tackle the project.

A makeover that starts with really listening

For Stéphanie, Paintfactory met her expectations. She appreciates the extensive selection of colours, the help in the Ghent store, and especially the personal colour advice.

The consultant listened to the atmosphere she wanted to create and helped her turn that into concrete choices. That is why she would recommend the colour advice to others as well.

Her home in Melle shows what a well-thought-out colour palette can do. The light base remained, but was joined by beige, terracotta, and blue. This made the house warmer, cosier, and more suited to the family.
